The vestments of a priest – both priest and archpriest - are not as simple as it may seem at first glance. Outfits can be both casual and festive, but in both versions there are several components - a podriznik, a stole, a belt, a loincloth, a handrail and a felon (in the common people – a robe). Individual dignitaries may have different vestments: for example, mitre archpriests wear a mitre.

What is the felony, which we all know as a risa?
This is the topmost church vestment, made in the form of a cape, which is fastened around the neck. Very often, the robe is dressed for festive church services – in this case, it can be elegant, have ornaments in the form of embroidery and stripes.
As a rule, a festive felon is made of brocade or embroidered with gold threads, a border can be set up along the bottom. However, initially the robe was worn to protect against cold, wind and bad weather: just remember, both Jesus Christ and the Apostles were dressed in the robe, but then it did not have such a symbolic character.
A podriznik is a lower cape that is worn under a felon.
It can be made of a simpler fabric, as a rule, it is natural cotton or linen. This element of the vestment is designed not only for the convenience of wearing, but in order for the robe itself to be less polluted.
The stole has been known since the 15th century, it was worn by deacons who were ordained priests, symbolized, as it were, promotion. Now this element is worn by clergymen, Orthodox bishops. The stole consists of two separate strips of fabric that are worn around the neck over a chasuble or a cassock, and secured with invisible buttons. It has a great symbolic meaning, gives priests not only to be a minister of the church, but also to perform various sacraments.
